Blog Worthy

I guess I have been using the excuse that I have not had anything “blog worthy” going on lately.  I mean, I can ramble on for hours (and hours) about work.  But that probably isn’t all that interesting to anyone other than me.  Plus their is that pesky “HIPPA” thing, so it’s not like I can tell much of the funny/interesting patient stories I have encountered recently.

Perhaps the most “blog worthy” item I have to share this week is our son’s discovery of his nose.  We have been doing the “where’s your ears, where’s your nose” game for a while.  And he plays a long a little bit.  But recently he has discovered that there are two little holes associated with his nose.  And that he can fit his whole finger up there.  We try not to laugh and encourage him, but he just acts so proud of himself when he shoves both of his fingers up his nose.  Ugh- boys!  Needless to say, this is definitely future blackmail material smile_regular

On a different note, we were pretty busy this past weekend.  On Saturday night we went to a Cajun Dance at the Knights of Columbus.  Bryson came along and was running around and “dancing” until suddenly he was so overwhelmingly tired that he just fell asleep in my arms.  It was really cute.  Thankfully, we had the stroller with us, so we positioned him so we could see him sleeping while we danced some more.

On Sunday, we went to Aiken to see Dave’s dad.  It was his birthday and Trish had a big surprise party planned.  I don’t know how he wasn’t suspicious when we showed up from Atlanta…but he acted like he didn’t know.  There must have been 30 people there!  And once again Bryson made himself the center of attention.  This time, he occupied himself by opening all of Ronnie’s gifts and shredding the tissue paper into a million little pieces.   He is definitely a mess.

So how did the surgery intern have time for so much weekend fun you might be wondering…   Well this month I am working at Piedmont hospital on a gynecology rotation.  It is interesting enough, although he surgeries are limited.  After all, there is only so much you can do “down there”.  The best part of this month though is the hours.  I don’t have to take any overnight call and I basically have every weekend off.  I just get to work around 7AM and stay until around 4-5PM.  And I am in the operating room all day.  It’s like being a normal person again.  Needless to say, it is going to be hard going back to my previous schedule after seeing “the other side”.
