Escape
I escaped from the hospital!! Not really- I just went on vacation last week. But it felt like an escape. Anything to get away from the current rotation I am on (by far my least favorite month this year).
Of course, my week of vacation came and went way too fast. We had originally planned to take this week off so that we could go back to the beach with our DC friends. Last year, after the match where we found out we were moving to Atlanta, we went to St. Augustine for a weekend retreat and had a blast. Anyway, this year was Melanie’s year for the match and we had decided to meet again for a post-match celebration. Unfortunately it didn’t quite work out like that. Brad had class, Dominique didn’t get her vacation request, and Laurie got pregnant and was due to pop her baby out during the week we were scheduled for the trip. Oh well. I guess we can’t plan it all (a re-occurring lesson in my life).
So, since our friends were all otherwise occupied, we opted to go alone for a brief vacation at the beach.
Check out Bryson’s Buddha belly. I don’t know how he has that adorable little pooch given his recent diet of milk, bread and pineapples/oranges.
If someone asked me if I wanted to just pick up and move there tomorrow, I seriously think I would pack my bags and relocate our family to Hilton Head. It is the perfect place…everything is so clean and manicured. There are no obnoxious signs or billboards. There are great bike paths to everything. And of course, there is the beach, which is beautiful. I love it.
Bryson loved playing in the sand and jumping in the waves/tidepools. He was especially entertained by filling up his toys sand and throwing it over his shoulder. What a boy! We bought a panda kite (I couldn’t resist) and with the strong winds, we spent a significant amount of time on the beach watching it dive and flip around 100+ feet in the air.
